Manningtree was granted a charter to hold a market by Henry III in 1238. It has held a market to this day with the exception of a brief period in the 14th century when it was closed down for being in competition with the King’s market in Colchester. Nowadays the market takes place every Saturday, take a look at our traders page and drop by to see what’s on offer.
